Six months!!

The babies turned 6 months on April 2...and I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.  How in the world has six months already passed?

They had their 6 month well child check up on their actual half birthday, which was last Friday (the day before my 29th birthday).  Here are the stats as of that morning:

Asher - 14 pounds 4 ounces (3rd percentile); 26.5 inches long (~50th percentile)

Felix - 15 pounds 11 ounces (10th percentile); 26.5 inches long (~50th percentile)

Both boys are pretty tall and skinny, although as usual we are worried about Asher's weight.  When he was born, he wasn't even on the growth chart for weight, and he has been gaining at a steady rate, so we shouldn't really be worried.  However, when one identical twin is a pound and a half smaller than his brother, how can you not be concerned?  At least we know why he's smaller...he started out smaller and he doesn't eat as much as his brother!  He consistently eats just a little bit less than Felix, which definitely adds up over time.  The doctor said all it would take for him to catch up would be 60 extra calories per day (about 3 ounces of formula or breastmilk).  However, this is easier said than done with Asher!  He's the king of letting milk run out of his mouth when he is done eating, so force-feeding isn't very effective (although we've tried)!  But, we're going to keep trying, as well as increase his solid food intake because he eats that better than a bottle or breast.  He's just ahead of his time, ready to be a big boy :)

For their six-month birthday, the boys got some new shades, and we got some cute pictures.  Happy 1/2 birthday boys, we love you more than you know!
